The 2010 Summer School and Workshop on Imaging Sciences and Medical Applications is an initiative of the UT Austin|Portugal program, for Mathematics. The Summer School and Workshop on Imaging Sciences and Medical Applications is an initiative of the UT Austin | Portugal program, for Mathematics. It will take place at the DM-FCTUC (Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra), in Coimbra, Portugal, June 15-23, 2010.
The event focuses on a selected range of interdisciplinary topics handled from both a mathematical and an engineering applications point of view. The target audience is, besides mathematicians and engineers, graduate and PhD students interested in doing research on problems related to Mathematics, Medical Imaging, Biomechanics, Biology, and Bioengineering.
The Summer School features five short courses, on image segmentation, image registration, image inpainting, image denoising and deblurring, and image reconstruction. Each course consists of five one hour lectures.
The Workshop has twelve forty minute plenary sessions. Some contributed papers will be selected for fifteen minute presentations and others to be on display in a poster session.
Attendance for the Summer School and Workshop will be limited to 60 participants.
