Student work from the futureplaces “Ghosts of Spaces” animation workshop

As part of futureplaces Digital Media Festival 2011, Austin animator Jeanne Stern returned to Porto to teach a two-day workshop on experimental animation.

Entitled "Ghosts of Spaces," the lab gave artists and filmmakers experience with hand-made techniques including cut paper, light-based, and hand-drawn animation. Stern's previous engagement in Porto was a three-week course as part of the 2011 Digital Media Summer Institute.
