Mathematics program to hold workshop on Fluid Dynamics in Porous Media

The workshop will take place September 12-14, 2011 at the University of Coimbra.

The workshop on Fluid Dynamics in Porous Media is an initiative of the UT Austin | Portugal program for Mathematics, in partnership with CMUC (Centre for Mathematics of University of Coimbra). It will take place at the Department of Mathematics of Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, on September 12-14, 2011.

The event focuses on mathematical models and numerical simulation in fluid dynamics in porous media bringing together mathematicians, engineers, geoscientists, and computing experts in a cooperative environment.

Graduate and PhD students with a related research interest are encouraged to participate.

The workshop comprises seven fifty-minute plenary sessions. The proceedings of the workshop will be published in a special edition of "Textos da Matemática" of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Coimbra.

Abstracts will be accepted through June 30, 2011.

Early registration is available at a reduced rate through July 20.
